Horse Creek Academy continued one of its most meaningful fall traditions through its annual Make Life Sweeter: Help Kids Fighting Cancer initiative, bringing hope and happiness to young patients at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

This year’s effort was again supported in a special partnership with the Fulghum family, including Anastasia Fulghum, an HCA graduate and childhood cancer survivor whose story continues to inspire the school community. Funds for the initiative were raised through the sale of cotton candy in the HCA canteen throughout the fall.

With enthusiastic support from HCA students, who purchased sweet treats to fuel the effort, the school raised enough money to purchase toys and comfort items for children currently undergoing cancer treatment. The Fulghum Family, as well as Kristin Trowell (HCA Cafe Lead) and her family, delivered the toys to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, spreading the love and sharing smiles with hospital staff during one of the most emotional outreach moments of the school year.

“Being able to brighten the day of children who are fighting so bravely is something our Village looks forward to each year,” said Sarah Morris, Chief Impact & Communications Officer at Horse Creek Academy. “This partnership reflects our school’s commitment to service and community connection—which is really the heart of who we are.”

Horse Creek Academy extends a heartfelt thank you to the Fulghum family; Kristin Trowell, and the dedicated team at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia for welcoming the school and supporting this project.

The Make Life Sweeter initiative is part of HCA’s broader commitment to community service, which encourages students and families to be active participants in giving back across the region.
