Elementary and Middle School Dress Code

Elementary (4K-5th) and Middle School (6th-8th) students must wear a specific HCA Uniform. Throughout the year, we will offer both special and free dress days (these will be announced in advance on Facebook, our App, and Robocall). Every Friday, students may wear either a uniform shirt or HCA Spirit Shirt with appropriate free dress pants, shorts, or skirts that follow coverage guidelines as listed below.

Uniform Tops

Uniform Bottoms

  • Shirts must be either black, royal blue, gold, or white

  • Shirts may be long or short-sleeve

  • All shirts must have a collar

  • Tops may have a logo/monogram, but it should be no bigger than a standard deck of playing cards

  • Sweaters, sweatshirts/hoodies may be worn but must be black, white, gold, or royal blue to be worn in the building. Students must always wear a uniform collared shirt underneath.

  • Any official HCA sweatshirt/hoodie/jacket is permitted.

  • Polo-type dresses (with collar) may be permitted in white, black, royal blue, and gold.

  • Pants/shorts must be black or khaki

  • Athletic pants/shorts are permitted if they meet coverage requirements

  • Leggings are appropriate bottoms if the student’s uniform shirt/ approved sweatshirt is long enough to cover to midthigh.

  • Skirts/skorts/dresses must be black, khaki, or the special HCA plaid available exclusively from French Toast. Check out our website for French Toast ordering information!

  • Dresses must have a collar; for jumpers, a collared shirt must be worn underneath.

Additional Guidelines

Jackets:

  • Any color jacket may be worn; however, all jackets must be unzipped in the building.

  • Students must ALWAYS wear a uniform collared shirt underneath.

Headwear:

  • No sunglasses, hats, or hoods are allowed in the building unless permitted by administration for religious, medical, or other applicable reasons.

Rips/Tears:

  • Uniform clothing should be free of rips/tears.

  • On Fridays, ripped jeans are permitted if they follow coverage guidelines.

Friday Spirit Days:

  • Every Friday, students may wear bottoms of their choice with an HCA t-shirt or uniform shirt.

  • Blankets, sleep pants, and slippers are not allowed unless it is a special dress day.

Tights:

  • May only be worn under uniform bottoms unless it is free dress and in that case: they must be worn with a longer top (dress, tunic, sweater, sweatshirt, etc.) must be worn and reach mid-thight.

  • Any color is permitted

  • No fishnet-type tights may be worn

Shoes:

  • Any color is permitted

  • No bedroom slippers/shoes

  • No shoes with wheels or very high heels (stilettos, etc.)

Coverage Requirements:

  • Clothing must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit

  • The length of shorts, skirts, dresses, must be mid-thigh length.

  • On days where different shirt options are allowed (free dress, picture day, etc.) shoulder straps should be at least 1" wide.

  • Rips/tears should be lower than 3" length on the upper thighs. If above this length leggings or other material must be worn under.

Note: Uniforms may be purchased elsewhere EXCEPT for the plaid items. Any plaid items must come from our Dress Code page on French Toast. The only color plaid acceptable is pictured below, it's name is "Blue Red Plaid"
