2025-26 HCA e-Learning Plan
This school is designated as an eLearning School. Those schools who meet the criteria for an eLearning School as determined by the Department of Education may use up to five eLearning days to allow for the make-up of short-term disruptions to in-person teaching and learning.
eLearning Plan: Grades K–5
Instructional Time Goal: Minimum 200 minutes direct instruction (video/reading/listening)
Total Time with Engagement & Completion: 5.5 hours (330 minutes)
Delivery Options: Paper (K–2 recommended), Google Classroom (3–5), Online Learning Programs
Format Options:
K–2 Teachers:
Option 1: Prepare paper packets (with labeled “Day ___” activities).
Option 2: Use Google Sites, etc.
Grades 3–5 Teachers:
Post daily plans in Google Classroom. Include:
“Today’s Instructions” slide or video
Direct links to all needed content
Clear labeling of tasks (Required vs. Optional)
Sample Daily Breakdown:
Reading & ELA – 60 minutes
Read-aloud video or independent reading (20 min)
Phonics or grammar mini-lesson (10–15 min)
Comprehension or writing task (20–25 min)
Math – 45–60 minutes
Instructional video (10–15 min)
Practice problems or interactive task (30 min)
Optional: Use programs like IXL, Khan Academy, etc.
Science/Social Studies – 30–45 minutes
Video or nonfiction reading (15–20 min)
Related drawing, writing, or online task
Specials (Art, PE, Music) – 30 minutes
Posted choice board or themed activity
Extra Time Suggestions (Fill up to 5.5 hrs):
Silent reading
Flashcard review

Guidelines for Teachers:
Post work by 8:00 AM in Google Classroom
Provide one focused assignment per course
Use a mix of media: videos, texts, teacher notes, interactive tasks
Include estimated time to complete each activity
Sample Daily Breakdown:
Per Subject (Typical 4–6 classes):
Video or Lecture Slides: 10–15 minutes
Reading or Task Instructions: 15–20 minutes
Assignment or Assessment: 20–30 minutes
Total per class: 45–60 minutes
Integration Options:
Use tools like:
Edpuzzle for video-based tasks
Newsela or CommonLit for readings
Quizlet, Khan Academy, IXL, Google Docs/Forms
Allow students flexibility in pacing but set due times
Expectations for Students:
Check Google Classroom for each class
Watch/read all posted materials (200+ minutes)
Submit all work by the designated deadline
Use any remaining time (up to 6 hrs) for studying, reviewing, or project work

Teachers will be available via Remind as well as Google Classroom, and email.
