Blended HCA

Blended HCA Video

We are piloting an all online program at HCA called Blended HCA. If you want to learn more, watch the video above. We will also have a FAQ sheet coming out this week as well.

This is FOR CURRENT HCA students (5K – 9th grade) ONLY.

Depending on who signs up, we may be able to allow many wait list students into our building. So, that is good news for our wait list students!

By signing up for Blended HCA, you are agreeing to have your student online full time for core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Middle and High School students will be able to take many additional courses as well. In fact, there are over 300 options.

By signing up for Blended HCA, you are agreeing to learn online for ONE FULL SCHOOL YEAR (2020-2021) and HCA will SAVE YOUR SPOT for next year in case you want to return to in-person, on-campus learning.

Spots are limited – do not wait!

Registration will open on Wednesday, June 10, and will remain open through Wednesday, June 24, to all current 5k-9 grade students. All core academic instruction will occur in your home with virtual support from a certified teacher. If a device or internet are needed, these will be supplied by the program.

What makes this program unique from other online learning experiences is that you and your family will still be a part of the village!

Your family will be invited to attend and participate in any extra-curricular activities on campus, or virtually that may interest you.

Another element of this program that is unique to other online programs is that your child will have a virtual classroom teacher that cares, supports, and meets with your child each week.

HCA will provide all curriculum and instruction, although parental support will be critical to our program’s success, especially with our younger students. Because students will be doing all academic work at home, the school day will be significantly shorter for the participants in the program.

The curriculum and instruction will be individualized based on your child’s needs and will be provided online in addition to the weekly check-ins with your child’s virtual classroom teacher!

DUE June 24th! The commitment form can be found on our Facebook page on Wednesday, June 10, or at the bottom of this page.

A few notes as we work to grow this program to SERVE the needs of all of our families:
  1. HCA is working to provide a FLEXIBLE option for families that feel a blended model will be a good fit for them. The program is optional, although spots are filling up quickly.
  2. If you are not interested, you do not need to do anything at all. Your spot is ready and waiting for you in the building.
  3. If you have completed either Google form, you will be receiving a link to an informational Zoom meeting. The meeting will be held next Sunday at 6pm. It will be recorded and emailed for anyone that may miss it.
  4. There’s been a great deal of interest in how students will stay CONNECTED to extracurricular events. HCA is in the process of setting up a school-wide communication system. Blended HCA will definitely be a part of that! Anyone participating in the pilot program will be included in all information about all extracurricular activities.

A Blended HCA table will be available for questions in the Commons during pick up days on Thursday and Friday of this week. Come see us!

If you are interested in receiving the link to the Zoom informational meeting and you have not previously shared your interest, please email your request to bgreen@hcacs.net or call 803-640-4522. Thank you!

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will do our best to answer any questions you may have!

Will there be any in class this year. If your child is not picked for the online classes will they lose there spot for the following school year. I really don’t thing Bella will benefit from online, but I’m willing to try. I just don’t want her tho lose her spot.

    Hi Nikie,
The current plan is to re-open in August with in person instruction in the building. This is simply an optional program for Horse Creek families that feel it may be a good fit for them. If you do not feel that it is a good fit, you do not need to do anything at all to keep your spot as is inside the building at Horse Creek. If you have other questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 803- 640–4522. I hope this helps. Take care!

I have an incoming 5K student, but have not enrolled her at HCA yet (application not under resources on website), We are interested in blended learning and wondering if this is open to new families. I look forward to your reply.

Jessica, please check the resources page again. I just looked and the enrollment forms are under the “Enrollment” heading. As for the question about blended learning, it’s for students who are already accepted at horse creek and not open to outside students.
